One Simple Life

One Rose
One Simple Rose
Dying by the moment
Petals Scattered
Fallen and Fragrant
And every place they rest
Is Beautiful
Deeply Romantic

They will get swept away
But in the moment
They are glorious
Enticing
Captivating
Halting Time

Like a mist
Dancing across still water
Shining in the morning light
Blown in a slow, steady breeze
Here and gone in a moment
Yet it’s presence enriches the dawn

And vapor
One Simple vapor
Opens the airways
And allows one to breathe
To live
Because one vapor
Was in the right place
At the right time

One life
Fleeting by the moment
Moments Scattered
Fallen and Fragrant
And every place they rest
Is Beautiful
Deeply Romantic

They will get swept away
But in the moment
They are glorious
Enticing
Captivating
Halting Time

Like a mist
Dancing across still water
Shining in the morning light
Blown in a slow, steady breeze
Here and gone in a moment
One life enriches the dawn

And one life
One Simple life
Can open the airways
And allow another to breathe
To live
Because one life
Was in the right place
At the right time

The finite becomes infinite
The mortal, immortal
As one life leaves its impression
In its finite moment of time.

The Way to Deeper Love

You prayed for a deeper love.

You expected time alone.
You received time apart.

You expected long conversations.
You received silence.

You expected tenderness.
You received harshness.

You expected a heart turning to yours.
You received a heart turning away.

You expected praise.
You received criticism.

You expected laughter.
You received tears.

You expected apologies.
You received blame.

You expected things to get easier.
You received harder days.

You prayed for a deeper love.
You received GRACE.

To endure.

To stand.

To wait.

To preservere.

To forgive.

To deeply love.

When I am Tempted to Point my Finger

I can easily identify the sin in others,

and yet I am often so blind to

my own sin.

When I am tempted to point my finger at others,

and when my stomach turns at what I clearly see as sin,

may I ask the Lord to reveal the sin He sees,

in my own life.

May I remember,

that we all make wrong choices.

We all sin.

May I remember,

why Jesus came,

and died.

May I remember,

that his forgiveness,

and love,

is for every sinner,

and not just,

for me.

Our sin may be different,

but His grace is the same.

May I extend,

the forgiveness,

and grace,

that He has extended to me.

May I be quick to point my finger,

at myself,

and determined to change,

me.

The Wrong Aisle of the Book Store

Water, water everywhere.

But not a drop to drink.

Knowledge, knowledge, everywhere.

But not a word to think.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world,
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is
his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Romans 12:2

Love Endures

Love endures the closed doors. It keeps speaking to deaf ears. It keeps reaching for hands that refuse to take hold. It locks its gaze on eyes that have long looked away. It does not grow angry. It does not become proud. It does not insist on its own way. It lays itself low, wipes the dusty footprints off its back, then quickly sprints ahead to lay itself down once more. It is silent in the storm and unshaken. It is patient to wait for the storm to pass. It hopes and does not give up. It never fails to have faith even when faith has been lost in it.
