I saw this posted by K-Love Radio on Facebook a few days ago. It reminded me of the way our three year-old daughter prays before we eat. It started one day when my mother asked her to “Say grace” before our dinner. I wondered if she knew what my mother meant, as my husband and I don’t usually use those words. We simply ask the children to pray. She did not ask what my mother meant. She just bowed her head, closed her eyes and prayed, “Heavenly Fader, thank you for your grace. Thank you for our food. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
“Thank you for your grace.”
I thought about those words over and over again. Jesus told us to pray to the father to “give us our daily bread” but often I think we miss the very fact that he is our daily bread. His spirit, his grace, is what we need for the day. Yes Lord, give us our daily bread. Give us grace for today.
